Last few pics from New Zealand

Since the last blog, we have moved on from the South Island up through the North Island to Auckland and over to Australia. Below are the last few photos from the North Island from New Zealand. We stopped off in Palmerston North (a very lovely town) to briefly catch up with an old friend from the Euro car days in England. Those of you that were involved with Eurocar will recognise Paul Neadley, still wearing his Eurocar team shirt. You should all keep in touch with Paul, as he has a great life style in New Zealand.
Paul is well settled. This is a picture of him with Angel. By the way we should mention we only popped in for a cup of tea but managed to stay for a few hours - untill bed time. Thank you Paul for your hospitality!

From Palmerston North, we headed to Hamilton and (as luck would have it) we managed to catch another game of Super 14s rugby. This is Alison with some friends we met in the Chiefs supporters club. Unfortunately, the Chiefs lost again, that makes three in a row now!

The Chiefs were playing a South African team , the Sharks. There were no cheerleaders with the Sharks, so the Chiefs improvised on their behalf. Look closely, they are not the normal types.
It was a really good close game, although everyone supported the Chiefs who lost. Even the weather was against them, check out the sky.

From Hamilton we moved up to Auckland and as luck would have it, there was a drag race meeting on. Garry was in seventh heaven watching the racing. Check out this Capri, a real nice piece of kit (if you like cars) fitted with a Chevy V8 engine. It ran 10.5 seconds (very fast for non draggies).

Alison spotted this. A V8 engine in a bike. Look closely, you will see it really is a V8.

Sometimes, in drag racing, it all goes horribly wrong. We watched this guy crash at 154 mph. At least he has the right sponsors! And he walked away!
A big thank you again to Paul and Margaret for looking after us, lending us the van and getting up at 4 am to take us to the airport. We could not have done it without you - thanks.
We're now in Australia with Garry's mum. We'll post another update soon. Hope you're all having fun and the weather is improving.
Cheers.
Alison and Garry.
